Advent, Multiplying Our Faith (5 by 10 in 2020)

As members and regular attenders at First United Methodist Church in Prairie Grove we have committed ourselves to five ways we will support our church. These five practices are our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service and our witness. During Advent we will be discussing each of these during Sunday worship. Particularly we will be finding out how to multiply these five practices by 10. Imagine the impact we can have on our community if each of us is truly committed to serving our church through these five practices multiplied by 10 in 2020.

On Sunday, November 24, we all had the opportunity to serve our church by helping “Hang the Greens”. In decorating the church together, we bonded through fellowship and also learned a little about the symbolism of Christmas within our faith. During the sermon I challenged us as a congregation to serve our church and community at least 10 times in 2020. I also challenged us to invite 10 people to help serve throughout the year.

At FUMC Prairie Grove, We Feed People, and we do this very well. Over the last three years we have doubled our feeding ministries. To keep this momentum we need to make sure we feed ourselves well while also exercising  physically and spiritually. My hope and prayer is to take our membership vows and utilize them to help us see where God is taking us, to utilize our God given gifts to the fullest and experience God’s Kingdom here and now.

Stay tuned to our website and social media accounts as we work through the five practices of being a member of FUMC Prairie Grove during Advent and how we can work to increase them by a factor of ten in 2020.

Faithfully,
Lee
